Katsu Warmup

25 01 2010

Katsucon is fast approaching. So fast that It’ll be here before you know it.

So here is the info you need to know.

The Gaylord is a really swank place. Parking is 20 dollars a day, and all of the food choices are up scale. I highly recommend brining some of your own food to lesson your food costs.  The place is big. I noticed today that you can see it from the Yellow Line metro when your crossing the Potomac river. The Maid Cafe is going to be awesome so be prepared to be waited on by your own maid. For those who remember the maid cafe from last year was in a fairly terrible location, this year the location is much larger and a lot better furnished. (It would be cool if they got anime running on the TV’s while the con is going.)

The secdule of events looks fairly awesome too. Somethings that I really want to hit up are…

Friday

8 PM – Axis Powers Hetalia: World Peace Summit

10 PM – Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi (1-4)

Saturday

1 PM – Nihon Maid Association Workshop

3 PM – Attack Girls Swim: Team vs the Undead

7 PM – Modern Mythology: Mythic Elements in Anime and Video Games

8:30PM – Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket

9 PM – History of Anime

Sunday

7 AM – Akihabara Geeks

9 AM – Reading Too Much Into Gurren Lagann

Here is hoping I make it to as many of these as I can.

Yay, I’m so excited…except for the paying $20 a day for parking. I have class on Friday afternoon until 1pm, so from the looks of it I might be driving up myself. I don’t know anyone in JADE and would feel weird asking them to drive me. I guess I can afford $60 in parking if I bring my own food/don’t buy anything.

I will totally join you for the World Peace Summit on Friday, and on Saturday the Modern Mythology and History of Anime! Other panels I’m planning on going to is Historical Costuming for Cosplay on Saturday, *maybe* Whose Line is it Anime? (if it is at all like whose line is it anyway, I’ll go). Friday, I get to Kastu in one hour, I might want to see this robot rumble…but perhaps it’s not what I think it is. It sounds to me like robot wars, but if it isn’t, then it’s okay if I miss it. :-P

Sadly nothing struck my interest on Sunday. I guess Sunday is the sleep-in, laze about the dealers room day for me.

Hummmm there has got to be a way to get you to the con with out having to make you pay 60 dollars in parking. Actually I need to fact check that as it might be $20 flat for any time over 3 hours, I assumed that it rolled over every day but that might not be a valid assumption.

I’ve heard that 7 AM – Akihabara Geeks is a good documentary about Japanese culture. If you can manage to get up for it, it might be enjoyable to you. Not sure that I can manage to get up for it honestly.

I’m getting really excited. Also if you want to do the 1 PM – Nihon Maid Association Workshop on Sat you need to sign up before the end of this month.
